Cubic Casimir operator of SU C ( 3 ) and confinement in the nonrelativistic quark model

چکیده

Only two-body [F i · F j ] confining potentials have been considered, thus far, in the quark model without gluons, which by construction can only depend on the quadratic Casimir operator of the colour SU(3) group. A three-quark potential that depends on the cubic Casimir operator is added to the quark model. This results in improved properties of q 3 colour non-singlet states, which can now be arranged to have (arbitrarily) higher energy than the singlet, and the " colour dissolution/anticonfinement " problem of the F i · F j model is avoided.

Classical Solutions of SU(3) Pure Yang-Mills Theory

Regular classical solutions of pure SU(3) gauge theories, in Minkowsky spacetime, are computed in the Landau gauge. The classical fields have an intrinsic energy scale and produce quark confinement if interpreted in the sense of a nonrelativistic potential. Moreover, the quark propagator in the background of these fields vanishes at large positive and negative time and space separations.

پتانسیلهای محض SU(3) در مدل ورتکسهای مرکزی پهن

The potentials between static sources in various representations in SU(3) are calculated on the basis of the fat-centre-vortices model of Faber, Greensite and Olejník. At intermediate distances, potentials are in qualitative agreement with “Casimir scaling,” which says that the string tension is proportional to the quadratic operator of the representation. At large distances, screening occurs...

Casimir scaling hypothesis on the nonperturbative force in QCD vs . dual superconducting scenario of confinement ∗

From the SU(2) and SU(3) lattice QCD studies of the static potential between color charges in various dimensional representations, there arises the Casimir scaling hypothesis for the intermediate distance force [ 1, 2, 3]. This hypothesis tells that the ratio of forces associated with various dimensional representations of color charges, for a given color group, is determined by that of eigenva...

Baryon Magnetic Moments in a Relativistic Quark Model

Magnetic moments of baryons in the ground-state octet and decuplet are calculated in a light-front framework. We investigate the effects of quark mass variation both in the current operator and in the wavefunctions. A simple fit uses single oscillator wavefunctions for the baryons and allows the three flavors of quark to have nonzero anomalous magnetic moments. We find a good fit to the data wi...
